  • § 390.25 Extension or Modification of relief from regulations—emergencies.

    (a) FMCSA may extend the

    30-day time

    period of the

    exemption

    regulatory relief or modify the scope of emergency relief contained in § 390.23

    (a)(1), but not the 5-day time period contained in § 390.23(a)(2) or the 24-hour period contained in § 390.23(a)(3). Any motor carrier or driver seeking to extend the 30-day limit shall obtain approval from FMCSA in the region in which the motor carrier's principal place of business is located

    . Interested parties may also request an extension or modification by providing a detailed explanation of the need for an extension or modification of the relief. Any interested party seeking to extend the period of regulatory relief shall send its request to the FMCSA emergency declarations mailbox, FMCSAdeclaration@dot.gov, before the expiration of the

    30-day

    period

    (b) If FMCSA initiates or approves an extension of the

    exemption

    regulatory relief, it shall establish a new time limit and may place terms and conditions on

    the

    motor
