§ 180.359 - Methoprene; tolerances for residues.

  • (a) General. (1) Tolerances are established for residues of the insect growth regulator methoprene (isopropyl (E,E)-11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-2,4-dodecadienoate) in or on the following food commodities:

    (2) Methoprene (isopropyl (E,E)-11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-2,4-dodecadienoate) may be safely used in accordance with thefollowing prescribed conditions:

    (i) It is used in the form of mineral and/or protein blocks or other feed supplements in the feed of cattle at the rate of 22.7 to 45.4 milligrams per 100 pounds of body weight per month.

    (ii) It is used to prevent the breeding of hornflies in the manure oftreated cattle.

    (iii) To ensure safe use of the pesticide, the label and labeling ofthe pesticide formulation containing this pesticide shall conform to thelabel and labeling registered by the U.S. Environmental ProtectionAgency.
