§ 161.012-5 Approval procedures.
(a) An application for approval of a PFD light under this subpart must be sent submitted to the Commandant (CG-ENG) , Attn: Office of Design and Engineering Systems, U.S. Coast Guard Stop 7509, 2703 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE., Washington, DC 20593-7509according to § 159.001-5 of this subchapter.
(b) Each application for approval must contain—
(1) The name and address of the applicant;
(2) Two copies of plans Plans showing the construction details of the light;
(3) A detailed description of the applicant's production testing program; and
(4) A laboratory test report containing the observations and results of approval testing.
(c) The Commandant advises the applicant whether the light is approved. If the light is approved, an approval certificate is sent to the applicant.
