§ 558.248 - Erythromycin.

§ 558.248 Erythromycin.
(a) Specifications. Type A medicated articles containing 92.5 grams per pound erythromycin (as the thiocyanate salt).
(b) Sponsor. See No. 061623 061133 in § 510.600(c) of this chapter.
(c) Related tolerances. See § 556.230 of this chapter.
(d) Special considerations.
(1) Federal law restricts medicated feed containing this veterinary feed directive (VFD) drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. See § 558.6 for additional requirements.
(2) The expiration date of VFDs for erythromycin medicated feeds must not exceed 6 months from the date of issuance. VFDs for erythromycin shall not be refilled.
(e) Conditions of use -
(1) Chickens -
Erythromycin in grams/ton Combination in grams/ton Indications for use Limitations Sponsor (i) 92.5 Chickens: As an aid in the prevention of chronic respiratory disease during periods of stress Feed for 2 days before stress and 3 to 6 days after stress. Withdraw 24 hours before slaughter 061623 (iii) 185 Chickens: As an aid in the prevention and reduction of lesions and in lowering severity of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) Feed for 5 to 8 days. Withdraw 48 hours before slaughter. Do not use in birds producing eggs for food 061623 (2) Turkeys -
