A This source category includes a nitric acid production facility uses using one or more trains to produce weak nitric acid (30 to 70 percent in strength). Starting with reporting year 2018, this source category includes all nitric acid production facilities using one or more trains to produce nitric acid (any strength). A nitric acid train produces weak nitric acid through the catalytic oxidation of ammonia.
