§ 670.36 Specific issuance criteria.

(a) For purposes consistent with the Act, only the following

plants and animals

species may be considered for a permit allowing their introduction into Antarctica:

(

a

1)

Domestic plants

Cultivated plants and their reproductive propagules for controlled use; and

(

b) Laboratory animals and plants

2) Species of living organisms including viruses, bacteria, yeasts, and fungi, for controlled experimental use.

(b) Living non-indigenous species of birds shall not be introduced into Antarctica.
