plants and animals(a) For purposes consistent with the Act, only the following
b) Laboratory animals and plantsspecies may be considered for a permit allowing their introduction into Antarctica:
a(
Domestic plants1)
Cultivated plants and their reproductive propagules for controlled use; and
(
2) Species of living organisms including viruses, bacteria, yeasts, and fungi, for controlled experimental use.
(b) Living non-indigenous species of birds shall not be introduced into Antarctica.
