Connection of Customer-Provided Terminal Equipment to the
Telephone Network; Correction
AGENCY: Federal Communications Commission.
ACTION: Correcting amendment.

SUMMARY: On August 22, 1997, the Commission released a Report and Order
in the matter of Connection of Customer-Provided Terminal Equipment to
the Telephone Network. This document contains a correction to the final
regulations that appeared in the Federal Register, 62 FR 61649
(November 19, 1997), by adding paragraph (c) to Sec. 68.300. This
paragraph was inadvertently removed from the 1997 version of the Code
of Federal Regulations.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Background
The final regulations that are the subject of this correction
relate to all registered telephones, manufactured or imported for use
in the United States, including cordless telephones, as defined in
Section 15.3(j) of this chapter.
Need For Correction
As published, the final regulations contained an error which
requires updating.

Labeling requirements.
Accordingly, 47 CFR Part 68 is corrected by making the following
correcting amendment:
PART 68--CONNECTION OF TERMINAL EQUIPMENT TO THE TELEPHONE NETWORK
1. The authority citation for Part 68 continues to read as follows:
Authority: Secs. 4, 5, 303, 48 Stat., as amended, 1066, 1068,
1082 (47 U.S.C. 154, 155, 303).
2. In Sec. 68.300, add paragraph (c) to read as follows:

Sec. 68.300 Labeling requirements.
* * * * *
(c) As of April 1, 1997, all registered telephones, including
cordless telephones, as defined in Sec. 15.3(j) of this chapter,
manufactured in the United States (other than for export) or imported
for use in the United States, that are hearing aid compatible, as
defined in Sec. 68.316, shall have the letters ``HAC'' permanently
affixed thereto. ``Permanently affixed'' shall be defined as in
paragraph (b)(5) of this section. Telephones used with public mobile
services or private radio services, and secure telephones, as defined
by Sec. 68.3, are exempt from this requirement.
