Shipping Coordinating Committee Maritime Safety Committee; Notice 
of Meeting

    The Shipping Coordinating Committee (SHC) will conduct an open 
meeting at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 31, 1995, in Room 2415, at 
U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, 2100 Second Street, S.W., Washington, 
DC. The purpose of this meeting will be to report on the sixty-fourth 
session of the Marine Safety Committee (MSC) of the International 
Maritime Organization (IMO) held 5-9 December 1994. The U.S. delegation 
to MSC 64 will report on the activities of the session.
    Specific items will include:

a. Ro/Ro vessel safety
b. Bulk carrier safety
c. Role of the human element in maritime casualties
d. Existing ships' safety standards (grandfather clause)
e. Reports of various subcommittees (Stability, Load Lines and Fishing 
Vessel Safety; Life-Saving, Search and Rescue; Containers and Cargoes; 
Fire Protection; Training and Watchkeeping; Safety of Navigation; and 
Bulk Chemicals.)

    Members of the public may attend this meeting up to the seating 
capacity of the room. Interested persons may seek information by
