Granite State Gas Transmission Inc.; Notice of Proposed Changes
    in FERC Gas Tariff

    January 8, 1999.
Take notice that on January 4, 1999, Granite State Gas
Transmission, Inc. (Granite State) tendered for filing with the
Commission the revised tariff sheets listed below in its FERC Gas
Tariff, Third Revised Volume No. 1, for effectiveness on January 1,
    1999:

    Seventeenth Revised Sheet No. 21
    Eighteenth Revised Sheet No. 22

According to Granite State, the foregoing revised tariff sheets
reflect a recalculation of the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) surcharge to
be applicable during the first quarter of 1999 and the recalculation is
submitted to comply with the Commission's Letter Order dated December
18, 1998, in respect to the PCA filing on December 1. Also, Granite
State says that the revised tariff sheets have been paginated to
conform with instructions in the Letter Order.
Granite State further states that copies of its filing have been
served on its firm transportation customers, Bay State Gas Company and
Northern Utilities, Inc., and the regulatory agencies of the states of
    Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
