The Department of Commerce has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35).
Agency: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Title: Foreign Fishing Vessel Permit Applications.
Form Number(s): None.
OMB Approval Number: 0648-0089.
Type of Request: Regular submission.
Burden Hours: 25.
Number of Respondents: 25.
Average Hours Per Response: 90 minutes for an application for directed fishing; 2 hours for an application for a joint venture; and 45 minutes for an application for transshipment.
Needs and Uses: Section 204 of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act provides for the issuance of fishing permits to foreign vessels. Persons wanting permits must submit application material needed by NOAA to evaluate and act on the request.
Affected Public: Business and other for-profit organizations.
Frequency: Annually.
Respondent's Obligation: Mandatory.
