Coachella Canal Lining Project, Riverside and Imperial Counties,
California
AGENCY: Bureau of Reclamation, Interior.
ACTION: Notice of public hearing for the draft environmental impact
statement/draft environmental impact report: INT DES-94-03.

SUMMARY: Pursuant to section 102(2)(c) of the National Environmental
Policy Act of 1969, as amended, and section 21002 of the California
Environmental Quality Act, Reclamation and the Coachella Valley Water
District have issued a joint draft environmental impact statement/draft
environmental impact report (DEIS/DEIR) on a proposed canal lining
project. The document evaluates alternatives to line 33 miles of
earthen portions of the Coachella Canal to conserve water. Public
hearings on the DEIS/DEIR have been scheduled to solicit public comment
on the contents of the environmental document.
DATES: The public hearing will be held March 10, 1994, 6:30 p.m., at
the Coachella Valley Water District Operations Auditorium, Highway 111
and Avenue 52, Coachella, California.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Organizations and individuals wishing to
present statements at the hearing should contact Reclamation's Lower
Colorado Regional Office at the above address or telephone number to
announce their intention to participate. It is requested that such
contacts be made no later than 1 week prior to the date of the hearing.
Oral comments at the hearing will be limited to 5 minutes. The
hearing officer may allow any speaker to provide additional oral
comment after all persons wishing to comment have been heard. Whenever
possible, speakers will be scheduled accordingly to the time preference
mentioned in their letter or telephone requests. Speakers not present
when called will lose their privilege in the schedule order, and will
be recalled at the end of the scheduled speakers.
Written comments from those unable to attend or those who wish to
supplement their oral presentations at the hearing should be received
by Reclamation's Lower Colorado Regional Office at the above address by
March 15, 1994.
