    AGENCY: Surface Transportation Board.
    
    ACTION: Notice of exemption.

    SUMMARY: The Board, under 49 U.S.C. 10502, exempts from the 
    requirements of 49 U.S.C. 10903-04, the abandonment by Old Augusta 
    Railroad Company of its entire 2.5-mile rail line located between 
    milepost 0.0 at Augusta and milepost 2.5 at New Augusta, in Perry 
    County, MS, subject to labor protective conditions.
    
    DATES: This exemption will be effective on February 20, 1997. Petitions 
    to stay must be filed by February 5, 1997 and petitions to reopen must 
    be filed by February 17, 1997.
