AGENCY: Internal Revenue Service, Treasury.
ACTION: Cancellation of notice of public hearing on proposed
regulations.

SUMMARY: This document provides notice of cancellation of a public
hearing on proposed regulations under section 1441 regarding the
obligation to withhold on interest paid with respect to obligations in
the case of the sale of obligations between interest payment dates.
DATES: The public hearing originally scheduled for Monday, January 26,
1998, beginning at 10:00 a.m. is canceled.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The subject of the public hearing is
proposed regulations under section 1441 of the Internal Revenue Code. A
notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of public hearing appearing in
the Federal Register on Tuesday, October 14, 1997 (62 FR 53503),
announced that the public hearing on proposed regulations under section
1441 of the Internal Revenue Code would be held on Monday, January 26,
1998, beginning at 10:00 a.m., in the Commissioner's Conference Room,
Room 3313, Internal Revenue Building, 1111 Constitution Avenue, NW.,
Washington, DC.
The public hearing scheduled for Monday, January 26, 1998, is
canceled.
