    Agenda and Notice of Public Meeting of the Rhode Island Advisory 
    Committee
    
        Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and 
    regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, that a meeting of 
    the Rhode Island Advisory Committee to the Commission will convene at 
    9:00 a.m. and adjourn at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 1998, at the 
    Providence Public Library, North Meeting Room, 225 Washington Street, 
    Providence, Rhode Island 02903. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a 
    consultation to gather information for its project, ``An Examination of 
    the Impact of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity 
    Reconciliation Act of 1996 on Legal Immigrants in Rhode Island.'' The 
    Committee has invited community representatives and immigrant rights 
    organizations, State and local officials, and the State congressional 
    delegation to brief the Committee on this topic.
        Persons desiring additional information, or planning a presentation 
    to the Committee, should contact Committee Chairperson Robert Lee, 401-
    863-1693, or Ki-Taek Chun, Director of the Eastern Regional Office, 
    202-376-7533 (TDD 202-376-8116). Hearing-impaired persons who will 
    attend the meeting and require the services of a sign language 
    interpreter should contact the Regional Office at least ten (10) 
    working days before the scheduled date of the meeting.
        The meeting will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of the 
    rules and regulations of the Commission.
