    Office of the Director; Notice of Meeting
    
        Pursuant to sec. 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act 
    (FACA), as amended (Title 5, U.S.C. Appendix 2) notice is hereby given 
    of the meeting of the Alternative Medicine Program Advisory Council on 
    February 10, 1997 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on

    February 11, 1997 from 8:30 to 1 p.m. at the Versailles I Conference 
    Room, Holiday Inn, 8120 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland.
        The entire meeting will be open to the public. The purpose of the 
    meeting will be to update the Council on the progress of the Office of 
    Alternative Medicine and obtain Council's advice on research. There 
    will also be a presentation by James S. Gordon, M.D., outgoing chair of 
    AMPAC, as well as presentation on dietary supplement research at the 
    NIH by Bernadette Marriott, Ph.D., Director, Office of Dietary 
    Supplements, NIH and a presentation on research in the use of hypericum 
    (St. John's Wort) in the treatment of depression by Jerry Cott, Ph.D., 
    Program Officer, National Institute of Mental Health, NIH. Attendance 
    by the public will be limited to space available.
