    The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) has received an application, dated January 3, 2003, from the Exelon Generation Company, LLC, filed pursuant to section 104b of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and 10 CFR part 54, to renew Operating License Nos. DPR-19, DPR-25, DPR-29, and DPR-30 for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, and the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, respectively. Renewal of the licenses would authorize the applicant to operate each of the facilities for an additional 20-year period. The current operating licenses for the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, expire on December 22, 2009, and January 12, 2011, respectively. Both of the current operating licenses for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, expire on December 14, 2012. The Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, are boiling-water reactors designed by General Electric Company and are located in Grundy County, Illinois. The Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, are also boiling-water reactors designed by General Electric Company, and are located in Rock Island County, Illinois. The acceptability of the tendered application for docketing and other matters, including an opportunity to request for a hearing, will be the subject of a subsequent Federal Register notice.
