Pacific Fishery Management Council; Public Meeting

AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and 
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.

ACTION: Notice of public meeting.

SUMMARY: The Pacific Fishery Management Council's Groundfish Management 
Team will hold a public meeting.

DATES: The meeting will be held on February 20 beginning at 1 p.m. and 
may go into the evening until business for the day is completed, and on 
February 21 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on February 22 from 
8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Council, 2130 SW Fifth Avenue, Suite 224, Portland, OR 97201.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The primary purpose of this meeting is to 
review the Council's October 1995 instructions to the team, review its 
organization and prepare a schedule of team activities for 1996, and 
elect a new chair. The team will review the status of the interim stock 
assessment for Pacific whiting and develop an acceptable biological 
catch recommendation for 1996. The agenda also includes reviews of the 
inseason catch tracking process for 1996, development of a new stock 
assessment process, management of thornyheads south of Pt. Conception, 
the pace of open access sablefish and thornyhead landings, and status 
reports on whiting and sablefish analyses.
