    AGENCY: Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.
    
    ACTION: Notice of meeting.

    SUMMARY: This notice sets forth the schedule and proposed agenda of a 
    forthcoming meeting of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and 
    Sports. This notice also describes the functions of the Council. Notice 
    of this meeting is required under the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
    
    DATES: February 8, 1996, 9:00 a.m.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The President's Council on Physical Fitness 
    and Sports operates under Executive Order #12345, as amended, and 
    subsequent orders. The functions of the Council are: (1) To advise the 
    President and the Secretary concerning progress made in carrying out 
    the provisions of the Executive Order and recommending to the President 
    and Secretary, as necessary, actions to accelerate progress; (2) advise 
    the President and the Secretary on matters pertaining to the ways and 
    means of enhancing opportunities for participation in physical fitness 
    and sports actions to extend and improve physical activity programs and 
    services; (3) advise the President and the Secretary on state, local, 
    and private actions to extend and improve physical activity programs 
    and services.
        The Council will hold this meeting to apprise the members of the 
    national program on physical fitness and sports,

    to report on ongoing Council initiatives, and to plan for future 
    directions.
