Northern Border Pipeline Company; Notice of Compliance Filing

October 6, 1997.
    Take notice that on October 1, 1997, Northern Border Pipeline 
Company (Northern Border) tendered for filing as part of its FERC Gas 
Tariff, First Revised Volume No. 1, certain revised tariff sheets to 
become effective November 1, 1997:
    Northern Border states that this filing is made to comply with the 
letter order of the Commission dated June 2, 1997, in which the 
Commission directed Northern Border to file tariff sheets to implement 
the revised and new business practices standards. Because the Version 
1.1 implementation guides do not include the data dictionaries 
necessary to implement the standards, Northern Border is proposing to 
utilize the data dictionaries set forth in the Version 1.2 
implementation guides. These guides contain the only published source 
of the data dictionaries necessary to implement the standards adopted 
in Order No. 587-C, such as Package ID.
    Any person desiring to protest said filing should file a protest 
with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., 
Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the 
Commission's Rules and Regulations. All such protests must be filed as 
provided in Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations. Protests 
will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate 
action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to 
the proceeding. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission 
and are available for public inspection in the Public Reference Room.
