    SUMMARY: In accordance with section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of 
    Housing and Urban Development Reform Act of 1989, this announcement 
    notifies the public of funding decisions made by the Department in a 
    competition for funding under the NOFA for Lead-Based Paint Hazard 
    Reduction in Priority Housing: Category I and Category II Grants. The 
    announcement contains the names and addresses of the award winners and 
    the amounts of awards.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Lead-Based Paint program is authorized 
    by the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban 
    Development, and the Independent Agencies Appropriations Act of 1993 
    (Pub. L. 102-389, approved October 6, 1992).
        The purpose of the competition was to award grant funding for 
    approximately $90,000,000 for a grant program for States and local 
    governments to undertake lead-based paint hazard reduction in priority 
    housing: and Category II, for up to $3,000,000, for grants to States 
    for assistance in implementing a State certification program after 
    passing enabling legislation. The 1994 awards announced in this Notice 
    were selected for funding in a competition announced in a Federal 
    Register notice published on June 4, 1993 (58 FR 31848). Applications 
    were scored and selected for funding on the basis of selection criteria 
    contained in that Notice.
        A total of $93,351,264 has been awarded, to nineteen Category I 
    grantees, and eight Category II grantees. In accordance with section 
    102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of Housing and Urban Development Reform 
    Act of 1989 (Pub. L. 101-235, approved December 15, 1989), the 
    Department is publishing the names, addresses, and amounts of those
