Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council; Meeting
AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
ACTION: Public meeting.

SUMMARY: The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council's Atlantic
Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Committee and Advisors will hold a
public meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Loligo
squid mesh regulation.
DATES: The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 1996,
beginning at 10 a.m.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Minimum mesh size provisions for Loligo
squid were implemented under Amendment 5 to the Fishery Management Plan
for the Atlantic Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Fisheries (61 FR
14465, April 2, 1996). Discussion at this meeting will focus on the
implications of the minimum mesh provisions for the Loligo fishery,
including enforcement and implementation concerns.
