Northern Natural Gas Company; Notice of Compliance Filing

October 13, 1999.
    Take notice that on October 6, 1999, Northern Natural Gas Company 
(Northern) tendered for filing changes in its FERC Gas Tariff, Fifth 
Revised Volume No. 1, the following tariff sheet, with an effective 
date of July 7, 1996.

Fifth Substitute Second Revised Sheet No. 252

    Northern states that the above-listed tariff sheet is filed in 
compliance with the Commission's Order issued September 21, 1999 in 
Docket Nos. RP96-272-008 and RP96-272-009, addressing Northern's 
negotiated rate provisions.
    Northern further states that copies of the filing have been ailed 
to each of its customers and interested State Commissions.
    Any person desiring to protest this filing should file a protest 
with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., 
Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the 
Commission's Rules and Regulations. All such protests must be filed as 
provided in Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations. Protests 
will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate 
action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to 
the proceedings. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission 
and are available for public inspection in the Public Reference Room.
