Agency Form Under Review by the Office of Management and Budget
DOC has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for
clearance the following proposal for collection of information under
the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35).
Agency: Bureau of the Census.
Title: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program Evaluation Survey.
Form Number: None.
Agency Approval Number: None.
Type of Request: New collection.
Burden: 2,800 hours.
Number of Respondents: 8,400.
Avg Hours Per Response: 20 minutes.
Needs and Uses: The Census Bureau, acting as an agent for NIST will
conduct the NIST/MEP Program Evaluation Survey. MEP centers around the
country provide technical and business assistance to small and medium-
sized manufacturing establishments. The survey will gather information
from recent clients of MEP centers on how they have been helped by the
assistance provided by the centers. The NIST will use results of the
survey, together with other information, to evaluate program strengths
and weaknesses, plan improvements in program effectiveness and
efficiency, and initiate a program-wide management information and
evaluation system. The survey will be administered using Computer
Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) technology.

Frequency: One-time.
