    In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-
463, as amended), the National Science Foundation announces the 
following meeting:

    Name: Advisory Panel for Physiology and Ethology (#1160).
    Date and Time: October 20, 21 and 22, 1997.
    Place: Room 330, National Science Foundation, 4201 Wilson 
Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia.
    Type of Meeting: Part-Open.

    Minutes: May be obtained from the contact person listed above.
    Purpose of Meeting: To provide advice and recommendations 
concerning proposals submitted to NSF for financial support.
    Agenda: Open Session: October 22, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. 
Discussion with Dr. Mary E. Clutter, Assistant Director for 
Biological Sciences on research trends and opportunities in 
Integrative Plant Biology.
    Closed Session: October 20-21, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and October 
22, 8:30 am to 11:00 am and 12 noon to 5:00 pm. To review and 
evaluate Integrative Plant Biology proposals as part of the 
selection process of awards.
    Reason for Closing: The proposals being reviewed include 
information of a proprietary or confidential nature, including 
technical information; financial data, such as salaries; and 
personal information concerning individuals associated with the 
proposals. These matters are exempt under 5 U.S.C. 552b(c), (4) and 
(6) of the Government in the Sunshine Act.
