Gist-brocades NV; Withdrawal of a Color Additive Petition

AGENCY: Food and Drug Administration, HHS.

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing the 
withdrawal, without prejudice to a future filing, of a color additive 
petition (CAP 4C0243) proposing that the color additive regulations be 
amended to provide for the safe use of the inactivated and dried yeast 
Phaffia rhodozyma to provide a pigment source for salmonids.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In a notice published in the Federal 
Register of October 17, 1994 (59 FR 52306), FDA announced that a color 
additive petition (CAP 4C0243) had been filed by Gist-brocades NV, 
Wateringseweg, 2611 XT Delft, The Netherlands. The petition proposed 
that part 73 Listing of Color Additives Exempt From Certification (21 
CFR part 73) of the color additive regulations be amended to provide 
for the safe use of the inactivated and dried yeast P. rhodozyma to 
provide a pigment source for salmonids. Gist-

brocades NV has now withdrawn the petition without prejudice to a 
future filing (21 CFR 71.6(c)(2)).
