    Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, Metropolitan Edison 
    Company and Pennsylvania Electric Company, PECO Energy Company, PP&L, 
    and UGI Utilities, Inc.; Notice of Filing
    
    October 15, 1997.
        Take notice that on October 3, 1997, the Pennsylvania Public 
    Utility Commission filed a Petition Requesting Expedited Consideration 
    and Acceptance of Forms of Retail Transmission Service Agency Agreement 
    Necessary to Implement the Pennsylvania Retail Access Pilot Programs. 
    Also, Metropolitan Edison Company and Pennsylvania Electric Company 
    (doing business as GPU Energy), PECO Energy Company, and jointly PP&L, 
    Inc., and UGI Utilities, Inc., filed their Forms of Retail Transmission 
    Service Agency Agreements (Agency Agreements), including unbundled 
    retail transmission rate schedules, that will be used to implement 
    their retail access pilot programs. The Pennsylvania Commission and the 
    Pennsylvania PJM Utilities request the Commission to grant expedited 
    consideration so that the Agency Agreements may become effective on 
    November 1, 1997.
        Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
    file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
    Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E. Washington, D.C. 20426, 
    in accordance with Rules 211 and 214 of the Commission's Rules of 
    Practice and Procedures (18 CFR 385.211 and 18 CFR 385.214). All such 
    motions or protests should be filed on or before October 24, 1997. 
    Protests will be considered by the Commission in determining the 
    appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants 
    parties to the proceeding. Any person wishing to become a party must 
    file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the 
    Commission and are available for public inspection.
