continued eligibility for pension and parents' Dependency and Indemnity
Compensation (DIC) and to determine whether adjustments in the rate of
payment are necessary. These reports are also used for developing
supplemental income and estate information from claimants who have
previously filed a formal application for pension or parents' DIC. It
would be impossible to administer the pension and parents' DIC programs
    without the collection of information.

to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a
currently valid OMB control number. The Federal Register Notice with a
60-day comment period soliciting comments on this collection of
information was published on June 17, 1997 at pages 32856-32857.
