summary: To accommodate requests from the public, the Department of the
Army has decided to extend the public comment period on the Draft
Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (DPEIS) for the Mission and
Master Plan, Fort Bliss, Texas and New Mexico from October 5, 1998 to
November 5, 1998.
dates: Comments on the DEIS should be postmarked by November 5, 1998 to

supplementary information: On August 18, 1998, Department of the Army
published a notice in the Federal Register (63 FR 44247) (63 FR 44247)
announcing the availability of the subject DPEIS and the locations of
the planned public meetings as well as the repositories for the DPEIS.
The dates and times for the public meetings were announced subsequently
in the public media in the vicinity of Fort Bliss and the meetings were
held on September 3, 4, and 5, 1998. The Environmental Protection
Agency published its Notice of Availability for the DPEIS on August 21,
1998 (63 FR 44859). Department of the Army has received requests from
several parties to extend the comment period. In response to these
requests, and to ensure that all interested parties have time to
comment, the comment period has been extended to November 5, 1998.
