    AGENCY: Mine Safety and Health Administration, Labor.
    
    ACTION: Notice of renewal of advisory committee charter.

    SUMMARY: After consultation with the General Services Administration, 
    the Department of Labor is renewing the charter for the Mine Safety and 
    Health Administration's Advisory Committee on the Elimination of 
    Pneumoconiosis Among Coal Miners for a period of one year.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: By this notice and after consultation with 
    the General Services Administration, the Department of Labor is 
    renewing the charter of the Advisory Committee on the Elimination of 
    Pneumoconiosis Among Coal Miners for a period of one year, until 
    September 30, 1996. The charter was to expire on September 30, 1995. 
    This action is necessary and in the public interest.
        The committee will develop recommendations for improved standards, 
    or other appropriate actions, addressing: permissible exposure limits 
    to eliminate black lung disease and silicosis; the means to control 
    respirable coal mine dust levels; improved monitoring of respirable 
    coal dust levels and the role of the miner in that monitoring; and the 
    adequacy of operator sampling programs to determine the actual levels 
    of dust concentrations to which miners are exposed.
        The Committee will consist of nine members and includes two 
    representatives from labor, and two representatives of the coal mining 
    industry. The Committee's statutorily mandated majority will be 
    composed of five individuals who have no economic interests in the coal 
    or other mining industry and who are not operators, miners, or officers 
    or employees of the Federal government or any State or local 
    government. The Committee's charter will be filed under the Federal 
    Advisory Committee Act 15 days from the date of publication of this 
    notice.
