Justice's ``Solicitation for the Forensic DNA Laboratory Program.''

provided:

Authority

    This action is authorized under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe 
Streets Act of 1968, Secs. 201-03, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 3721-23 
(1988).

Background

    The purpose of this solicitation is to provide funding to State and 
local governments to develop or improve the capability to analyze 
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in State and local forensic laboratories. 
This program is authorized by the DNA Identification Act of 1994 
(Public Law 103-322). Interested persons should call the National 
Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) at 1-800-851-3420 to obtain 
a copy of ``Solicitation for the Forensic DNA Laboratory Program'' 
(refer to document no. SL000135). The solicitation is available 
electronically via the NCJRS Bulletin Board, which can be accessed via 
Internet. Telnet to ncjrsbbs.aspensys.com, or gopher to 
ncjrs.aspensys.com 71. Those without Internet access can dial the NCJRS
