    In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-
463 as amended), the National Science Foundation announces the 
following meetings:

    Name: Special Emphasis Panel in Materials Research (DMR) #1203.
    Dates/Times: October 20, 1999 (7:30 p.m.-10 p.m.); October 21 (8 
a.m.-5:15 p.m.) & October 22, (8 a.m.-3 p.m.).
    Place: National Institute of Standards and Technology, 100 
Bureau Drive, Stop 8562, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-8562.
    Type of Meeting: Closed.
    Contact Person: Dr. Guebre X. Tessema, Program Director, 
National Facilities and Instrumentation Program, Division of 
Materials Research, Room 1065, National Science Foundation, 
Arlington, VA 22230. Telephone [phone].
    Purpose of Meetings: To provide advice and recommendations 
concerning a proposal submitted to NSF for financial support.
    Agenda: Review and evaluate a proposal entitled Center for High 
Resolution Neutron Scattering for a National Facilities and 
Instrumentation Program award.
    Reason for closing: The proposal being reviewed included 
information of a proprietary or confidential nature, including 
technical information, financial data such as salaries, and personal 
information concerning individuals associated with the proposal. 
These matters are exempt under 5 U.S.C. 552b.(c) (4) and (6) of the 
Government in the Sunshine Act.
