Extension of Public Comment Period for the Draft Canada--United 
States Strategy for the Virtual Elimination of Persistent Toxic 
Substances in the Great Lakes Basin

AGENCY: Environmental Protection Agency.

ACTION: Notice of the extension of the public comment period for the 
Draft Canada--United States Strategy for the Virtual Elimination of 
Persistent Toxic Substances in the Great Lakes Basin (the Strategy).

SUMMARY: The Draft Canada--United States Strategy for the Virtual 
Elimination of Persistent Toxic Substances in the Great Lakes Basin was 
made available for public comment beginning on August 19, 1996, when 
notice of its availability was published in the Federal Register, 61 FR 
42902, Aug. 19, 1996. Commenters were given until September 18, 1996, 
to submit comments. However, several commenters requested that EPA 
extend the comment period. In order to address the concerns of these 
commenters, EPA is hereby extending the comment period an additional 
thirty days from todays date of publication.

DATES: The comment period, which began on August 20, 1996, is now 
extended through November 8, 1996. Comments must be submitted no later 
than November 8, 1996.
