    Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company; Notice of Proposed Changes in 
    FERC Gas Tariff and of Compliance Filing
    
    November 5, 1997.
        Take notice that on October 31, 1997, Tennessee Gas Pipeline 
    Company (Tennessee) tendered for filing to its FERC Gas Tariff, Fifth 
    Revised Volume No. 1, the following tariff sheet to become effective on 
    November 1, 1997:
    
    Nineteenth Revised Sheet No. 30
    
        Tennessee states that the above tariff sheet is being filed for the 
    dual-purpose of (1) implementing negotiated rate contracts pursuant to 
    the Commission's Statement of Policy on Alternatives to Traditional 
    Cost-of-Service Ratemaking for Natural Gas Pipelines and Regulation of 
    Negotiated Transportation Services of Natural Gas Pipelines issued 
    January 31, 1996, at Docket Nos. RM95-6-000 and RM96-7-000 and (2) 
    complying with the Commission's October 29, 1997 letter Order issued in 
    the above-referenced docket. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, 81 FERC 
    para. 61,114 (1997).
        Any person desiring to protest this filing should file a protest 
    with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., 
    Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the 
    Commission's Rules and Regulations. All such protests must be filed as 
    provided in Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations. Protests 
    will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate 
    action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to 
    the proceeding. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission 
    and are available for public inspection in the Public Reference Room.
