AGENCY: Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, USDA.

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this 
notice announces the Office of Management and Budget's approval of a 
collection of information contained in the Animal and Plant Health 
Inspection Service's final rule that allows fresh Hass avocado fruit 
from Michoacan, Mexico, to be imported into certain areas of the United 
States under certain conditions.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

Background

    On February 5, 1997, we published a final rule in the Federal 
Register (62 FR 5293-5315, Docket No. 94-116-5) amending 7 CFR 319.56 
to allow fresh Hass avocado fruit from Michoacan, Mexico, to be 
imported into certain areas of the United States under certain 
conditions. That rule contains information collection requirements. On 
October 23, 1997, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved 
the collection of information requirements with respect to that final 
rule under OMB control number 0579-0129 (expires October 31, 2000).
