Advisory Committee of the Task Force for Designing the Year 2000
Census and Census-Related Activities for 2000-2009
AGENCY: Economics and Statistics Administration, Department of
Commerce.
ACTION: Notice of public meeting.

SUMMARY: Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-
463, as amended by Pub. L. 94-409) we are giving notice of a meeting of
the Advisory Committee of the Task Force for Designing the Year 2000
Census and Census-Related Activities for 2000-2009. The meeting will
convene on Thursday, December 8, 1994, and continue through Friday,
December 9, 1994, at the Bureau of the Census' Conference Center,
Federal Building 3, Suitland, Maryland.
The Advisory Committee is composed of a Chair, twenty-five member
organizations, and nine ex officio members, all appointed by the
Secretary of Commerce. The Advisory Committee will consider the goals
of the census and user needs for information provided by the census,
and provide a perspective from the standpoint of the outside user
community on how proposed designs for the year 2000 census realize
those goals and satisfy those needs. The Advisory Committee shall
consider all aspects of the conduct of the census of population and
housing for the year 2000, and shall make recommendations for improving
that census.
DATES: The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn at 4:30 p.m. on
Thursday, December 8, 1994 and reconvene at 8:30 a.m. on Friday,
December 9, 1994, with adjournment set for 11:30 a.m.
ADDRESSES: The meeting will take place at the Bureau of the Census'
Conference Center, Federal Building 3, Suitland, Maryland.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The agenda for the meeting includes
discussions on the role of state and local governments, plans for
outreach and promotion, content testing plans, and an update of the
federal review of racial and ethnic categories, as well as any other
items that the Chair and Advisory Committee members deem appropriate
for this meeting.
The meeting is open to the public. A brief period will be set aside
for public comment and questions. However, persons with extensive
questions or statements for the record must submit them in writing to
the Commerce Department official named above at least three working
days prior to the meeting.
The meeting is physically accessible to people with disabilities.
