Submission for OMB Review; Comment Request

    The Department of Commerce (DOC) has submitted to the Office of 
Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for 
collection of information under provisions of the Paperwork Reduction 
Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35).
    Agency: Office of the Secretary.
    Title: Revision to the Commerce Acquisition Regulation (CAR) clause 
at 1352.217-109 Entitled ``Insurance Requirements.''
    Agency Form Number: N/A.
    OMB Approval Number: 0690-0010.
    Type of Request: Extension of a currently approved collection.
    Burden: 30 hours.
    Number of Respondents: 30.
    Average Hours Per Response: 1 hour.
    Needs and Uses: The Department of Commerce requires in its 
contracts for construction, alteration and repair of ships each 
selected contractor to procure and maintain insurance as specified in 
the CAR clause 1352.217-109, ``Insurance Requirements.'' The clause 
also requires the contractor to submit proof of this insurance to the 
contracting officer before the work under the contract is authorized to 
start.
    Affected Public: Businesses or other for-profit and not-for-profit 
institutions.
    Frequency: On occasion.
    Respondent's Obligation: Required to obtain or retain benefits.
