National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics: Meeting
Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, The Department of
Health and Human Services announces the following advisory committee
meeting.
Name: National Committee on vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS).
Times and Dates: 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., November 14, 1996; 8:30
a.m.-5:00 p.m., November 15, 1996.
Place: Room 503A, Hubert H. Humphrey Building, 200 Independence
Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20201.
Status: Open.
Purpose: The meeting will focus on the Committee's new
responsibilities as outlined in the administrative simplification
provisions of Public Law 104-191, as well as on related matters.
Departmental officials will brief the Committee on recent
developments, activities of the HHS Data Council, and related data
policy activities. The Committee also is scheduled to begin the
first of a series of discussions on health data standards: ANSI HISB
representatives are scheduled to brief the Committee on an inventory
of administrative transaction data standards; representatives from
the health data standards community, the health quality assurance
community, the public health and research communities, State and
local governments and other interested and affected parties are
scheduled to describe their perspectives on health data standards.
The Committee also will discuss its priorities and work plans.
Notice: In the interest of security, the Department has
instituted stringent procedures for entrance to the Hubert H.
Humphrey building by non-government employees. Thus, persons without
a government identification card should plan to arrive at the
building each day either between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. or 12:30 and
1:00 p.m. so they can be escorted to the meeting. Entrance to the
meeting at other times during the day cannot be assured.
