Notice Pursuant to the National Cooperative Research and 
Production Act of 1993--Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company

    Notice is hereby given that, on September 16, 1996, pursuant to 
Section 6(a) of the National Cooperative Research and Production Act of 
1993, 15 U.S.C. 4301 et seq. (``the Act''), Minnesota Mining and 
Manufacturing Company (``3M'') filed written notifications 
simultaneously with the Attorney General and the Federal Trade 
Commission disclosing (1) the identities of the parties and (2) the 
nature and objectives of the venture. The notifications were filed for 
the purpose of invoking the Act's provisions limiting the recovery of 
antitrust plaintiffs to actual damages under specified circumstances. 
Pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Act, the identities of the parties are: 
Duke Engineering & Services, Inc., Charlotte, NC; The University of 
Chicago as operator of Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL; 
Florida International University, Miami, FL; ICF Incorporated, Fairfax, 
VA; Commonwealth Edison Company, Chicago, IL; and Minnesota Mining and 
Manufacturing Company, St. Paul, MN.
    The purpose of the venture is to develop and demonstrate various 
technologies that may be useful for remediation of nuclear and non-
nuclear hazardous conditions at various facilities, including site 
specific remediation at Argonne National Laboratory under agreement 
with the U.S. Department of Energy.
