(El Paso), Post Office Box 1492, El Paso, Texas 79978, filed a request
with the Commission in Docket No. CP96-30-000 pursuant to sections
157.205 and 157.212 of the Commission's Regulations under the Natural
Gas Act (NGA) for authorization to construct and operate a bi-

directional interconnect with the facilities of PNM Gas Services, a
division of Public Service Company of New Mexico (``PNM Gas Services'')
in Lea County, New Mexico. The proposed interconnection would permit
PNM Gas Services to serve residential, commercial and industrial
customers. El Paso has reported that they would construct and operate
the proposed interconnect at its own expense which they report to be an
    estimated cost of $268,200.

Commission has issued this notice, file pursuant to Rule 214 of the

within 30 days after the time allowed for filing a protest, the instant
request shall be treated as an application for authorization pursuant
to Section 7 of the NGA.
