Title: Importation of Live Swine, Pork, and Pork Products from Chile.
OMB Number: 0579-0235.
Type of Request: Extension of approval of an information collection.
Abstract: The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is authorized, among other things, to prohibit the importation and interstate movement of animals and animal products to prevent the introduction into and dissemination within the United States of animal diseases and pests. To fulfill this mission, APHIS regulates the importation of animals and animal products into the United States. The regulations are contained in title 9, chapter 1, subchapter D, parts 91 through 99, of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Part 94, § 94.25, allows the importation, subject to certain conditions, of live swine, pork, and pork products from certain regions, including Chile, that are free of classical swine fever. Among the conditions is a requirement for a certificate that must be completed by Chilean veterinary authorities prior to export. The certificate must identify both the region of export and the region of origin as regions designated in §§ 94.9 and 94.10 as free of classical swine fever at the time the live swine, pork, or pork products were in the regions.
We are asking the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to approve our use of this information collection activity for an additional 3 years.
The purpose of this notice is to solicit comments from the public (as well as affected agencies) concerning our information collection. These comments will help us:

(4) Minimize the burden of the information collection on those who are to respond, through use, as appropriate, of automated, electronic, mechanical, and other collection technologies, e.g., permitting electronic submission of responses.
