FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION
[Notice 1994--18]
11 CFR Parts 9003, 9004, 9006, 9007, 9033, 9034, 9037, and 9038
Public Financing of Presidential Primary and General Election
Candidates
AGENCY: Federal Election Commission.
ACTION: Extension of comment period.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY: On October 6, 1994, the Federal Election Commission published
a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comments on proposed revisions
to its regulations governing publicly financed Presidential primary and
general election candidates. The Commission has now decided to extend
the comment period until January 9, 1995.
DATES; Comments must be received on or before January 9, 1995.
ADDRESSES: Comments must be in writing and addressed to: Ms. Susan E.
Propper, Assistant General Counsel, 999 E Street, NW., Washington, DC
20463.
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Ms. Susan E. Propper, Assistant
General Counsel, 999 E Street, NW., Washington, DC 20463, (202) 219-
3690 or (800) 424-9530.
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Commission has initiated a rulemaking to
determine what changes should be made to its regulations at 11 CFR
Parts 9001 et seq. and 9031 et seq. governing public financing of
Presidential campaigns. See 59 FR 51006 (October 6, 1994). These
regulations implement the provisions of the Presidential Election
Campaign Fund Act and the Presidential Primary Matching Payment Account
Act. The Notice of proposed rulemaking indicated that comments were due
on December 5, 1994. Two requests for an extension of the comment
period have been received. Commenters who are engaged in winding down
1994 election activities are finding it difficult to submit timely
comments. Accordingly, the Commission has now concluded that it would
be appropriate to extend the comment period until January 9, 1995 to
allow commenters sufficient time after the elections to prepare their
comments and suggestions.
Dated: December 9, 1994.
Trevor Potter,
Chairman.
