SUMMARY: Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995
(44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), federal agencies are required to submit
proposed or established reporting and recordkeeping requirements to OMB
for review and approval, and to publish a notice in the Federal
Register notifying the public that the Agency will make such a
submission. The information collection activity involved with this
program is conducted pursuant to the mandate given to the United States
Information Agency (USIA) under the terms and conditions of E.O. 10450
and 12968. USIA is requesting approval for a three-year extension of an
information collection entitled ``Overseas Activities Data'', under OMB
control number 3116-0014 which expires March 31, 1999. Estimated burden
hours per response is thirty (.50) minutes.

statement, and other documents that will be submitted to OMB for
approval may be obtained from the USIA Clearance Officer. Comments

sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and
reviewing the collection of information. As part of its continuing
effort to reduce the paperwork burden, USIA invites the general public
and other Federal agencies to comment on the proposed information
collection as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Public
Law 104-13. Comments are requested concerning (a) whether the proposed
collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of
    the agency, including whether the information has practical utility;
    (b) the accuracy of the Agency's burden estimates; (c) ways to enhance
the quality, utility, and clarity of the information collected and (d)
ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on the
respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or
other forms of information technology. Send comments regarding this
