AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and 
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.

ACTION: Notice of public meeting.

SUMMARY: The Western Pacific Fishery Management Council will hold a 
meeting of its Precious Corals Plan Team.

DATES: The meeting will be held on January 30, 1998, from 9:00 a.m. to 
12:00 p.m.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Precious Corals Plan Team will discuss 
(1) the status of the precious corals fishery and the recent survey of 
Makapu'u Bed; (2) a final draft of a Precious Corals Fishery Management 
Plan (FMP) amendment to establish a framework procedure in the FMP and 
include the exclusive economic zone around the Northern Mariana Islands 
in the FMP area; (3) the inconsistency of Hawaii State and Federal 
regulations for the harvest of precious corals; (4) other issues as 
required.
    Although other issues not contained in this agenda may come before 
this Plan Team for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens 
Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the 
subject of formal Plan Team action during this meeting. Plan Team 
action will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in 
the agenda listed in this notice.
