Proposed Agency Information Collection Activities; Comment
Request
ACTION: Notice and request for comments.

SUMMARY: The Department of the Treasury, as part of its continuing
effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general
public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment
on proposed and/or continuing information collections, as required by
the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Public Law 104-13 (44 U.S.C.
3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
within the Department of the Treasury is soliciting comments concerning
the Claim--Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm Taxes.
DATES: Written comments should be received on or before February 20,
1996 to be assured of consideration.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Title: Claim--Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Taxes.
OMB Number: 1512-0141.
Form Number: ATF F 2635 (5620.8).
Abstract: This form is used by taxpayers to show the basis for a
credit remission and allowance of tax on a loss of taxable articles. To
request a refund or abatement on taxes excessively or erroneously
collected. To request a drawback of tax paid on distilled spirits used
in the production of non-beverage products. This form is submitted
along with supporting documents to indicate the reason a credit of
Federal Tax should be made.
Current Actions: There are no new changes to this information
collection and it is being submitted for extension purposes only.
Type of Review: Extension.
Affected Public: Business or other for-profit, individuals or
households, and not-for-profit institutions.
Estimated Number of Respondents: 10,000
Estimated Time Per Respondent: one hour
Estimated Total Annual Burden Hours: 10,000.
REQUEST FOR COMMENTS: Comments submitted in response to this notice
will be summarized and/or included in the request for OMB approval. All
comments will become a matter of public record. Written comments should
address the accuracy of the burden estimates and ways to minimize
burden including the use of automated collection techniques or the use
of other forms of information technology, as well as other relevant
aspects of the information collection request.
