Public Information Collection Requirement Submitted to OMB for 
Review

ACTION: Notice.

    The Department of Defense has submitted to OMB for clearance the 
following proposal for collection of information under the provisions 
of the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35).
    Title and Applicable Form: Air Force ROTC Pre-Applicant 
Questionnaire, AF Form 3846.
    Type of Request: New Collection.
    Average Burden Hours/Minutes Per Response: 5 minutes.
    Responses Per Respondent: 1.
    Number of Respondents: 175,000.
    Annual Burden Hours: 14,583.
    Annual Responses: 175,000.
    Needs and Uses: This information collection provides a mailing list 
for distribution of the scholarship application package to potentially 
qualified applicants. The screening process saves the Air Force Forms 
Management Office thousands of printing dollars on unused applications.
    Affected Public: Individuals or households.
    Frequency: On occasion.
    Respondent's Obligation: Required to obtain or retain a benefit.
    OMB Desk Officer: Mr. Edward C. Springer.
    Written comments and recommendations on the proposed information 
collection should be sent to Mr. Springer at the Office of Management 
and Budget, Desk Officer to DoD, room 10236, New Executive Office 
Building, Washington, DC 20503.
    DoD Clearance Officer: Mr. William P. Pearce.
    Written request for copies of the information collection proposal 
should be sent to Mr. Pearce, WHS/DIOR, 1215 Jefferson Davis Highway, 
suite 1204, Arlington, Virginia 22202-4302.
