ACTION:
Notice of information collections to be submitted to OMB for review and approval under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
SUMMARY:
In accordance with requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), the FDIC hereby gives notice that it plans to submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request for OMB review and approval of the information collection system described below.
DATES:
Comments must be submitted on or before January 25, 2007.

Proposal to renew the following currently approved collection of information:
Title: Foreign Banks.
OMB Number: 3064-0114.
Frequency of Response: On occasion.
Affected Public: Certain U.S. branches of foreign banks.
Estimated Number of Respondents: 12.
Estimated Time per Response: 131.
Total Annual Burden: 1,572 hours.
General Description of Collection: This collection consists of applications relating to the FDIC's supervision of insured branches of foreign banks. The applications cover such actions as moving a branch, operating as a noninsured state-licensed branch of a foreign bank, conducting activities which are not permissible for a federally-licensed branch internal recordkeeping; and reporting and recordkeeping requirements relating to pledges of assets to the FDIC.
Request for Comment
Comments are invited on: (a) Whether this collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the FDIC's functions, including whether the information has practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the estimate of the burden of the information collection, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and (d) ways to minimize the burden of the information collection on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology. All comments will become a matter of public record.
