    SUMMARY: Pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee 
    Act (Public Law 92-463, 86 Stat. 770), notice is given of a meeting of 
    the Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee.
    
    DATES: Wednesday, January 13, 1999, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, 
    January 14, 1999, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, January 15, 1999, 
    8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
    
    Purpose of the Meeting
    
        The major purposes of this meeting are to review the Panel report 
    on the opportunities and requirements of a fusion energy sciences 
    program, including the technical requirements of a fusion energy 
    program; to discuss how to proceed with a program review; to review 
    recommendations for maximizing effectiveness of international 
    collaborations; to discuss the possibility of the U.S. hosting the 2004 
    International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting; to hear 
    presentations on the fusion programs at Lawrence Berkeley National 
    Laboratory (LBNL) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL); 
    and to visit the facilities at LLNL.

    statements must be received 5 days prior to the meeting; reasonable
