National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics: Meeting
Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Department of
Health and Human Services announces the following advisory committee
meeting.
Name: National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS)
Subcommittee on Populations.
Times and Dates: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., January 24, 2000; 10 a.m.-4
p.m., January 25, 2000
Place: Conference Room 705A, Hubert H. Humphrey Building, 200
Independence Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20201.
Status: Open.
Purpose: The Subcommittee on Populations will meet on January
24-25, 2000 to discuss and assess the feasibility of recording,
evaluating and analyzing measures of functional status on health
records, such as enrollment in health plans, records of medical
encounters, and standardized attachments to such records. Several
panels of experts will explore issues related to the collection of
information on functional status in administrative records and data
collection systems, and will discuss data collection and measurement
efforts necessary to address the issue effectively. This is the
first of several public meetings being planned by the Subcommittee
to discuss this topic.
All topics are tentative and subject to change. Prior to the
meeting, please check the NCVHS web site, where a detailed agenda
will be posted when available.

Note: In the interest of security, the Department has instituted
stringent procedures for entrance to the Hubert H. Humphrey Building
