SUMMARY:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the comment period for the proposed rule “Finding of Failure to Attain the Primary 2010 One-Hour Sulfur Dioxide Standard for the St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana Nonattainment Area” that was published on December 7, 2021. The proposal provided for a public comment period ending January 6, 2022. The EPA received a request from the public to extend this comment period. The EPA is extending the comment period to January 13, 2022.

The comment period for the proposed rule published December 7, 2021 (86 FR 69210), is extended. Written comments must be received on or before January 13, 2022.

Throughout this document wherever “we,” “us,” or “our” is used, we mean the EPA.
On December 7, 2021, we published in the Federal Register “Finding of Failure to Attain the Primary 2010 One-Hour Sulfur Dioxide Standard for the St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana Nonattainment Area”, where we proposed to determine that the St. Bernard Parish sulfur dioxide (SO2) nonattainment area (“St. Bernard area” or “area”) failed to attain the primary 2010 one-hour SO2 national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS) under the Clean Air Act (CAA or the Act) by the applicable attainment date of October 4, 2018 (86 FR 69210). We received a request for an extension of the comment period and, in response, have decided to allow an additional 7 days for the public to comment. We are extending the comment period to January 13, 2022. This action will allow interested Start Printed Page 73719 persons additional time to prepare and submit comments.
