Notice Pursuant to the National Cooperative Research and 
Production Act of 1993--Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, 
Seagate Tape Technology, Inc., and Advanced Research Corporation

    Notice is hereby given that, on October 19, 1995, pursuant to 
Section 6(a) of the National Research and Production Act of 1993, 15 
U.S.C. Sec. 4301 et seq. (``the Act''), Minnesota Mining and 
Manufacturing Company (``3M'') filed notifications simultaneously with 
the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission disclosing (1) 
the identities of the parties to a research and development venture and 
(2) the nature and objective of the venture. The notifications were 
filed for the purpose of invoking the Act's provisions limiting the 
recovery of antitrust plaintiffs to actual damages under specified 
circumstances. Pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Act, the identities of 
the parties to the joint venture are Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing 
Company, St. Paul, MN; Seagate Tape Technology, Inc., Santa Clara, CA; 
and Advanced Research Corporation, Minneapolis, MN. The general area of 
planned activity is to develop technologies for a small, reliable, low 
cost, high bandwidth, high capacity, fast access tape recorder and 
cartridge media.
